Timex TX6010 Wireless Electronic Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Hygrometer

For a year after purchasing this unit, I was very happy. I loved being able to tell the kids exactly what the temperature was outside and the humidity reading seemed valid. One drawback originally was that the outside unit is not waterproof. This means it has to be put inside of something or on a covered porch (or similar) to keep the rain from reaching it. Now, however; my unit does not read the temperature properly. It says the proper inside temp. but only reads the proper outside temperature about half of the time (for instance, if it is 64 outside, it might read 104.5). I’ve changed the batteries and reset the unit to no avail. Sometimes, like now, it reads right but as the day progresses it gives me problems. The unit wasn’t expensive and did last a full year and did a good job for that year which is why it garnered three stars. If I had known it wasn’t going to last longer than a year, I would have spent a little more on a better unit.

This reasonably price theromoeter/hygrometer gets the job done. The outside temperature is updated may once every ~1min. The indoor readings are updated probably once ~30sec. This is slow, but it’s okay and helps prolong battery life.
The only gripe I have is the way the unit stands. It stands vertically, which makes it difficult to read the measurements comfortably sitting or standing.

I bought this hygrometer and found out that the relative humidity scale only goes from 40-70%, not 1-99% as in the Amazon.com description.
